Wedding Day Timeline
Here are recommendations for your wedding day timeline. I hope the below will help you determine the number of hours of service you will need. If you would rather go over this via phone or Skype, just let me know and I'll be happy to help.
Be sure to account for transitioning time (5 to 10 minutes between sessions) and travel time when applicable.
PRE-CEREMONY (GETTING READY)
Pre-ceremony photos can be of great value to a wedding album. Here, we have the opportunity to document the details of your getting-ready process, like hair and makeup, friends and loved ones helping you into your dress and shoes, macro photography of your wedding rings and jewelry, and photos of your dress, shoes, bouquet, and any other items or moments that are meaningful to you.
For both Bride & Groom: 1.5 hours recommended if both will be at the same general location (if not, account for travel).
For Bride only: 1 hour of photography recommended.
FORMALS
It can be difficult to designate more than an hour to photography between ceremony and reception, but any efforts to do so, if deemed necessary, will be very beneficial.
Family Formals: anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes, depending on family size. These photos are typically taken immediately after the ceremony.
Wedding Party and Couple-Only Photos - anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on personal preference
If your ceremony or reception location does not offer great spots to take these photos, we can drive to a better nearby location. Don't forget to take any travel involved into consideration when creating your timeline.
RECEPTION
Totally up to you!
TIP: Some couples may choose to do a First Look (15 minutes) before their ceremony. If you are choosing to do a First Look, we can also tackle some of the "formals" mentioned above before the ceremony which gives us more time and flexibility for the rest of the after-ceremony photos.
TIP: As far as outdoor photography goes, the closer to sunset, the better. If sunset is at 8PM, anytime between 7PM and 8:30PM is most ideal, allowing us the best use of soft natural light. Some couples reserve some time during the reception to take some, or all, the Couple-Only photos around sunset.

As soon as you have a basic timeline for your wedding day, please let us know so that we can review it together. It is best to do this ASAP, but certainly no later than two weeks before the wedding.
Having a well crafted wedding day schedule can make a world of a difference, which is why I like to make myself available to help with this step of the process.
